Description
Recommended. The latest Charade is cheap, well-equipped and lots of fun to drive. Despite diminutive statistics, there's plenty of space for four - the three-cylinder engine is economical too.

The revised Charade is guaranteed to put a smile on your face - even if it's just the price tag. Here's a car that costs under £6,000 but comes equipped with electric windows, power steering, ABS brakes and twin airbags too. Equipped with a tiny 989cc engine, you might expect this supermini to be low on performance but the dinky Daihatsu is sprightly and more than capable at motorway speeds. Around town it's in its element, easy to park and frugal. Interior trim and styling is decent but if you want more image then a basic Ford Ka might be the better buy.
Points positifs
- Enjoyable city car, more roomy than it looks
- Very competitive prices, low running costs
- Generous equipment for such a cheap car
|
Points negatifs
- Engine is noisy at full stretch
- Body roll inhibits fast cornering
- Noise levels are tiring at open road speeds
